Has anyone been in the last 10 days?
Any current reports - please?

I'd go to Fork or Athens instead. For those that know me you may be thinking I've lost my mind in recommending any lake over PC, but with all this rain, it WILL be a mudhole. I'm sure that you could catch some fish but you'd almost be certain to not get what the lake can really produce in the fall.

TPWD ruined that lake in my opinion. Overloaded it with Grass carp, there is almost no vegetation anymore.

Athens is good water 70 degrees, caught lots of nice fish in 3-6 ft. this evening.

And if Blu-Ranger says this it is fact for PC.... he knows this water better than the fish I think.

You give me too much credit.

There is that one little area on the west side I really haven't explored smile

Yes it is true, the lake is void of all grass,pads,reeds.. I fished there a few weeks ago and they are(forum members) if anything understating the shape of PC. I have fished PC since the late 80,s and have never seen it in the state it is in now. Talked to park ranger and he said they are going to reintroduce native vegitation into lake using cages so it can get a chance to grow before the carp can wipe it out.A few years ago they had the perfect storm to wipe out a great lake. Open up a goldfish stand in park, spray grass in swimming beach area, release grass carp, and after all that add a nice flood.

Damd Carp, I hate them - used to love PC. Cages to grow vegetation sounds like a slow uphill battle. BTW.. how do gold fish ruin a lake? Do they grow large enough to feed on grass in a significant way, or something?

I was wondering about that statement as well. People were using goldfish for bait long before the bait shop was opened at the ramp. It was just a couple of miles further up the road before.

It's a shame what a mudhole that lake has become. May as well just fill it in...
