Read alot of reviews and I keep reading that they don't cast well. Is it so bad to where I should just go with a different bait, or is it not really that bad?

Norman DD22 instead. the baits will spin in the air and foul(hook the line).

or get a couple, and drill a small hole and put some gunshot from a shotgun shell(birdshot size)... and then epoxy the hole. just a few BB's though or it will sink.

the h20 deep diver doesent have a good weight system in them, but all the other cranks are really good.

I mean for the price, can the weight system and casting be somewhat tolerated?
How heavy are they, are they 3/4 oz?

They are great for the price and good baits. But for someone that uses $400 rods, $300 reels, $20 line, why not buy crankbaits that costs twice as much.

I mean for the price, can the weight system and casting be somewhat tolerated? That pretty much sums up the entire business model of H2O. Catching fisherman instead of fish. It's actually pretty smart. They have figured out that the number of fisherman who wish they could afford $20 baits far exceeds those who can. So..... scrape the exspensive R&D and just make'em pretty & sell'em cheap. I mean honestly, why would a company release a bait you can't even cast? They are either clueless (because they do ZERO R&D) or they simply don't care. I belive the answer is all of the above. Now just to be clear, I'm not saying they won't catch some fish. If you put enough mega strike on a shoe lace and chartuse the end you could load the boat. The point is that for only a few extra dollars there are tried and true manufactures who have stood the test of time who invest their money correctly, on R&D instead of on a pretty paint job.

Joho5- They are cheap enough to purchase a few and test them out  . $3.57 if I can remember correctly. H20, IMO, is a pretty good bait. I will never spent 20 bucks on a lure or 200 bucks on a stick, either. I may be cheap  but I would much rather hang up and lose 4-5 bucks than 20. I haven't used the deep divers much but I haven't had any problems with casting or not running true. The only thing that I do is put on a little bigger hooks, gamakatsu! Worse case, take them back to academy, (with the receipt). And tell them that they don't work. It would be funny and you can get your money back.

WOW! what happened to the H2O Love on this forum....looks like someones feelings got hurt....Now lets be honest the deep diver does have some issues...but it does catch fish and runs true..."that must be by accident". I bet you can't say that for every DD, Strike King, Bandit, "Insert Company Here".. You pull out of the package..yeah their R&D is top notch.
It wont dive as deep as a DD or cast as good but I have had some pretty good days on it.
IMO...Every, and I mean EVERY, bait has pros and cons, H2Os are still a top pick for the money as far as Im concerned.

How heavy are they, are they 3/4 oz? yes. they are excellent for pulling over the top of brushpiles because they reach about 12-14' deep. they spin a few times while casting, but its not unbearable. they have thier place, and its right next to the dd22's in my box. their colors and quality of h2o baits are unmatched in regards to quality vs. price. they are the only lipped cranks I buy anymore. thier poppers are good too. about the only thing I have to do extra is keep my stock on dd22's, and an extra yellow magic here and there and I still use xcaliber lipless cranks

The H2O is back luck. I bought one the other week to try it out and when I went to cast it took a chunk out of my windshield and cracked it right down the middle. The backlash was so bad I finally had to cut 3/4 of the line away. Those things are CURSED.
