I am wanting to go fish the Bardwell dam...
and I read in this post

http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3840373/NEW_TO_CRAPPIE_FISHING

that you have to hike 3/4 of a mile to get there,,,,

I was just wanting to know a little better direction...
Is it the Tonkawa Trail that I need to be taking?
I found this map

http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/bardwell/BuffaloCreekC1.pdf

but it dos'nt explain how to get to the dam...

Anyone Know?

Thanks

See Waxahachie Creek on the left side of the map? Head to it and there is a trail that roughly follows the creek. Follow the creek and it will lead you to the dam.

Once you find where everyone is parking there is a trail that leads you all the way around the tree and to the damn. I went there 2 yrs ago when they were releasing water. Seen people limtied out on hybird right by the damn, also there alot of gar as well.

Like jigs4life said, follow the trail by the parking area. it will take you to the dam. you can also stop along the way, there are some cleared out areas to just fish also, just look for the little trails off the main trail.

I guess I will have to be a buzz kill...water release needs to be in the 1300's for consistent action. With the release of only 352cfs, the bite will be almost non-existent.

Not saying you won't catch something, I just think you will be disappointed.

usually, Bardwell is our lake of choice...it is close and never crowded.

Waxhachie has been a NO-NO because of it being so low, before all of the rain.

The best luck we have EVER had on Bardwell was while trolling. beyond that, it has always been a fish here and there.

We have done alot of camping at Barwell's Waxahachie creek park. Usually my wife and I catch catfish all night from the banks...while the kids watch movies in the tent

But no boat for me yet...This christmas things might change freak

Bardwell is +12 feet...sooner or later, they should be releasing. Remember, look for 1100+cfs!!! Ideally 1300cfs!!!
