There are stripers in the shreveport area, unfortunately, I am only familiar fishing the locks south of shreveport. I have caught many stripers at the Redriver locks. It does get very crowded at times but I have seen some nice fish caught. Have seen them exploding in the river . I was fishing from shore.Someone in a boat could do some damage if they take the time to learn the area.

I don't think they were there in 98 when I was stationed there, the lock and dams were just being completed so it actually helped the river stay at a certain level. I sure wish they were there then. I would talk to fish and game. They actually have a fish and game dude on base who may be able to help. Good luck.
Hooah!

Theyve been there since they put them in at Texoma and they traveled down river to the gulf before they dammed everything up.

1oz hair jigs with chatreuse 4 to 6 inch trailers, topwater should be pencil poppers, big super spooks, or redfins slowly waked across the surface. these are are probably big fish so a good line and drag are neccessasy. A pencil popper will get a stripers attention if it is in the area. if u are seeing stripers chasing bait and making boils try throwing the popper, if u get a blowup or follow , throw the hair jig and reel it straight back on med retreive, if u don't get a hit try a yo yo retreive. good luck and post ur results. Big fish hunting takes alot patience but a big striper on is heart stopping excitement.
