Thought I would let everyone know. They pumped water into Phantom from the Brazos over the weekend starting Friday, not quite a foot. Most of the lake is a muddy mess, more so than normal and the fishing was way off unless you were after Mr. Whiskers. Reports from the bait stands on Ambler said the scaly fish pretty much quit and everyone was catfishing.
Lots of new spawning cover for the little fish to hide in for a little while anyway and the fish are scattered.
Regards, Mud-Dabber

I went out there this evening and fished jigs in the rocks and not a single bite. I had some Danny Kings on a rod and did get a couple of bites, but nothing to write home about. I noticed yesterday the boats all staked out around the water inlet and figured they were after channel cats. Is it just me or is Phantom just not giving up much so far this year? Have I already missed it's crappie spawn or is it like last years (non-existent). In years past, you could drive past the lake with a jig in your car and fill up your basket. The last 2 have really sucked.

Ain't you Chris!! I've been waiting on the Dabber to give the word!! I haven't been on it yet. But it's now a two man job to get my boat off the trailer now unless I want to get wet. Weather permitting, I may make it Friday. The grandboys are supposed to be over from Weatherford and I've promised to take Jacob fishing.

Hope you catch a bunch. I can't buy a bite out there lately. I guess I'm going to have to spring for a boat so I can justify taking a weekend and going to Ivy or Proctor.

What were the 8 keepers? Catfish, crappie, or what? Talked to a freind and he and his son caught 50 blues when they were pumping the Brazos.

We have a 60% chance of thunderstorms tonight with an 80% chance tomorrow so I'm hoping to take my daughter out there to join the fun when the rain quits. She's flying in from Oregon and getting to D/FW at 1:07 am and I have to drive to pick her up after I get off early this evening. I haven't seen her since I left Oregon six years ago. I'm praying the nasty weather holds off until we get back to my house ! I'll be on a crappie hunt at several area lakes while she's here a week and will report if I do good, pictures included . David C.
4 out of 5 voices in my head say call in sick and go fishing !
