Bozo,
Was there any pattern? What depth? Did you hit brush piles or find them at the bridge? What time of the day seemed best.
I noticed they were taking the Christmas trees from April Plaza marina today to sink them. Wish I had been in the boat to follow and mark a few.

I caught some in eight foot of water but, most were caught in 30 foot of water. It was too windy for my liking to fish the bridge. We did try it for about 15 minutes without any luck. While we were there a guy pulled up a nice 14/15" crappie from the pilings next to the ones we were trying to fish. However, I don't like banging around my boat under there when the waves kick up so that wasn't an option for long with me.
The few in eight foot were holding very tight to a tree that had fallen into the lake from the bank. We took a minnow and placed it about 5 feet below a bobber and would just let it sit there in the tree. About every 15 -20 minutes we would get a fish.
The fish in 30 feet were holding on a channel edge that went from 24 -33 feet. They were just laying scattered along the bottom of the slop of the channel.

That North wind was really tough sat. We ended up with about 15 nice crappie. Most of them were caught dragging the bait down an edge that went from 14 to 25 foot of water. The rest came from stickups in 24 foot of water.
A strong north wind is hard to fish in this time of year on Conroe. There is very little deep water out of it.

Fishing is not necessarly the act of catching anything.
If you dont enjoy being there and the activity and challenge of fishing....you'd be better off getting your fish at HEB/Randalls/Kroger/Walmart etc. They are much cheaper there too.

Fished five different pilings on the West end of 1097 from 11;00 to 4:00. Only got four crappie, three nice keepers, but one fish for each hour or so is not a very good average. I also had watched the wesather and thought Friday would be a good day to find them biting. Anyway, had a great time getting out!

Shannon, which "little bridge" do you mean? Are you talking about the 1375 bridge or the Stubblefield road bridge?
I'm thinking about fishing in the neighborhood of the 1375 bridge. I have not ventured that far north because I'm a little concerned about all the stumps, but on my map it is still pretty deep there and looks like there should be good structure as well. Has anyone tried up in that area?

Shannon, Did you mainly catch Black or White crappie?
I have noticed the white crappie population dwindle in the past few years while the black crappie population has exploded. Especially this time of year, I've been throwing back most of the big white crappie hoping they will have a good spawn.

well first off i am actually talking about the little bridge at stubblefield and i have been catching a mix of both fish , black mostly and some big whites and the bigger whites i have been throwing back hoping they to will spawn ,,,they where full of eggs ??? or they where just fat off my bait i have been feeding them ,,,, either way i am allmost certain that you will have good luck at stubblefield i have been fishing it for years and this is the first time that they have been in there so thick this soon .....i am not sure why but they are there.good luck i am off to work so i will be posting later.
