My wife and I went out late Sunday afternoon. We launched at Pond Creek and went to the bridge north of the ramp. We roped off on a piller and ended up with 12 keepers and let about 6 or 7 more go. We only brought 2 dozen minnows. The bite stopped as soon as we ran out. We fished from 5pm - 8pm. We are going to try this weekend again. This time we will bring more minnows!

fishfrk22,
I was using small minnows from the Dam Store. I put a split shot about 18" above the minnow and dropping it down around the piller until I hit the cross beam, around 10-12'. Move the minnow up and down slowly around the cross beam. We might try it again later this afternoon. If Ray Roberts is Ray Roberts, I'm sure we will get skunked. Oh, well.

Chuck,

Do you mean Pond Creek or Pecan Creek? I don't see a bridge on the map at Pond Creek. Don't mean to be stupid; I don't crappie fish much, but I would really like to get my daughters on to them if I can.

Thanks for the post!

Bassdreamer,
Sorry for the confussion, the bridge about a half mile north of the ramp. There is a ramp on the right just south of the bridge, but I have not launched from there. I don't know the name either. The bridge is on the far west side of the lake.

Was it the 3002 bridge or the 377 bridge?

chuck,

there is a ramp at pond creek AND a ramp at pecan creek, that is my confusion. Pecan creek ramp is right next to 3002. Are you refering to a bridge that is submerged out in pond creek?

I was at RR today 6a-5p scouting out brushpiles and other likely crappy areas. Fished the AM for those green trash fish with some success in the coves just east of the dam. Kinda aggrivated to see that some of the brushpiles that my expensive map shows are actually 150-200 yards on shore by my GPS. (ok- I am a novice with the GPS so it could be operator error and I plan on checking my coordinates entered in the handheld tonight)
Fished the bridges with my new 9ft Wally setup often talked about in the TFF. Had a blast,
caught 50-60 crappie with perhaps 6 keepers. All on jigs, just roaming along the pilings walking the jigs slowly along the crossmember. I just need to find the larger fish now that my confidence is up with the jigging! Thanks Ernest, thats one great video!

really???

I'm sure it is the 3002 bridge by pecan creek ramp. My wife and I just got back from there and ended up with around 16 keepers, with a few good size ones mixed in. I bought the 2' green crappie light, and tried it out tonight. It is neet to watch all of the bait fish swirling around it. We caught 3 very large sand bass also at the bridge. one was just under 19". The other 2 were over 16". All on small minnows.

ChuckH,
Thanks for the clarification. I am sure my girls will thank you for the update.
