Just wanted to know from some TFFer's here that are avid tournament anglers. Do you tie fresh knots on your line the night before your tournament or the morning of? Has it ever made a difference doing this? Do you think you've lost fish due to tying the night before instead of that morning? I've always thought of this at times, and now I'm just starting to do a few tournaments I would like to recieve some input on this subject. Thanks

I tie every know the night before and I use the palomar knot. ALWAYS wet the knot before you cinch it or it will "burn" the line and cause you to break off. Get plenty of rest and envision what your game plan is during the tourney. Have a backup if that doesnt pan out. Make sure you have gone over your checklist of "things to do" to get ready and check em off. Do research on the lake your about to fish, i.e. maps, reports, and of course, the TFF!!

I have to retie the night before as I start out with fresh line on each spool. If it gets fished much during the first day off it comes and it gets respooled before day two.
I'm sure to some it sounds like overkill, but that is just the way it is.

I tie on a good variety of lures that I think I'll be using the night before.I even put all my rods by the door in the living room so I can grab them on the way to the car.I put my tackle bag and rain gear in the trunk where it's out of sight. My rods go in as I'm going out the door. That way I don't have to get in a hurry trying to get everything together and forget something.
