i used to fish that lake all the time when my dad and i had a boat, many a nights with limits of crappie... havent been out there in several years though so the lake structure may have changed a little

Our success came from finding brush in 20-30 feet, setting the boat up directly over it, and using 2 floating lights as well as a 3 foot green light, all we would have to do is set it up, and drop our lines about 5 to 10 feet below the lights and the crappie would usually be there. buy several dozen minnows, and bring a net to catch more bait from the lake.

Also there is a rock ledge in one of the creeks filled with flooded brush(not sure which one) but it always holds crappie on it.

Down by the damn seems to usually produce plentiful fish...sometimes...

If you put in at jim hogg park, launch the boat and go 2-3 creeks down on the right, look on the bank and there should be some brush in a medium pile on the bank, use a fish finder around the area and you should find a nice brush pile in about 25 feet or so, that was the spot that me and my dad always used to fish. i would have to say that about 90% of the time we would either limit out on crappie or come real close to it...

Hope this information helps you, and if you ever need a fishin partner me or me and my girlfriend would be glad to accompany you

Chris

Planing to hiting Georgetown Sat. Morning with my brother and nieces. How is the water level? Is the dock at Jim Hogg park floting or on the rocks? Any tips would be great as well. Thank you in advance,
Emmett

I will also probably be out Sat morning with my brother-in-law and nephew. I've never looked for crappie on the lake before, but I think I'm going to hit the coves on the north side of the lake and try to find a few brush piles. My nephew is 12, and new to fishing, so I was thinking of taking a few dozen minnows.

I also have a new boat, Nitro 189 Sport fish-n-ski, and have just started learning the lake. I'd love to offer a back seat, or take one and pay for some gas this summer if anyone wants to go. Lake G can be a hard lake to learn. I live right by the lake, so can be there in less than 5 min.

I might be going to Decker Lake instead. With Georgetown being that low and the dock not even floting, I know the boat will get banged up on the rocks trying to load everyone. Decker should be at a better level now.

Sblount512, I will take you up on that offer. I just started fishing Georgetown and have only been out a few times. I really like the lake and it is much closer to the house. I also have a Nitro Fish and Ski.

If anyone has been to Decker latley, how was the fishing? Have not been out for quite a while.
Thanks to all,
Emmett

Emm. the last time I was out, the courtesy dock at Cedar Breaks was still floating. If it's still down just 10 feet, I would expect it to still be usable, though it's a steep walk down.

Let's do get together soon, it would be nice to share notes on that lake.

Sblout512, I talked to the office at the Lake and they said the dock at Cedar Breaks was floating. So, There is a good chance we are going to try Georgetown. If you see a Green Nitro Fish and Ski, say hi.
We will have to make plans for sometime during the week or maybe next weekend. I am available pretty much anytime. I like to try and go out during the week. Alot less traffic on the lakes.
