Texoma!, Texoma!, Texoma! -- if that was a serious question.

Tawakoni if you were just being cute.

After many years of Striped Bass fishing in the Northeast, Texoma was a revelation. The most prolific Striped Bass fishery I've ever experienced in over 58 years of fishing.

We do not ever use bait on Texoma and always do very well.

Take your pick as to which lake you would like to fish and head there. You should be able to do well on either if you know what you are looking for. If you have never fished either lake, Do your research before you go. Both lakes are big and Texoma is a giant and if you are clueless, you could spend all day driving around on both. Good luck

Actually, I have used bait but only a few times out of the many I have been there. Somedays the fishing can be tough but right now there is no reason for bait. Lures will work just fine.

Fishing boy....Thats too bad cuz it really was an awesome day...Where exactly were you fishing ? Remember how windy it was that morning ? Were you hiding from the winds ? How shallow were you throwing your top water lures ?

Gimme some answers to those questions and maybe I can help you as to why you werent as successful as you coulda been.

I have been launching at LM this week and I bet I wasnt more than 2 miles from wherever you were.

i was fishing with the wind and hiding from it at times
from 5 ft to 15 ft with the topwaters
but the day went bad when we lost an anchor and had to buy one which wasted time
i did see a couple of guides on little mineral catching bait
might try again next month in thanksgiving weekend or so

I was out in the 3-4 foot waves fishing of all places a windblown bank..It was so windy I had the big motor running the entire time just to keep from getting tossed onto the rocks.. Unfortunately sometimes you gotta get yourself into the worst part of the weather to have those kind of days. Hiding from the wind rarely works.
I'd bet that out of 100 fish that day not one came in water more than 3 feet and most in 1-2.
Big ppencil poppers or chug bugs are the ticket especially in real windy conditions. Dont look for fish.. just work points and drops...not all banks are created equal...sometimes it will just be random along a bank but most times they will be holding on some subtle structure like a point or small drop off. They like having deeper water nearby to escape.
maybe that'll help a little for next time smile
