Well looks like Twak is ready to fish reeelllll good. Ya'll better get on the horn to Matt and get your dates book'd!

I am still a Twak New-B so don't know all the spots, but I do know when I fish with Matt it is ON!

Started at 7 AM from State Park and found lots o BIG fish under BIRDS close to Holiday Marina. The SmackBait in 4.5" on a 3/4oz jig head was the ticket. Don't forget to spike it with garlic dip!!! Found more birds on some humps close to the dam. The magic depth was 15-20' and find those big gulls!!! Water temp was 71-72.

The weather was windy, rainy, cool, and nasty, but Matt found the fish and turned the day UNCLOUDY and smile Too much wind-rain to video, but got a lot of good pics to make this beauty!

Nice job putting everyone on fish Matt! You did a great job on the video Mike but that Texas hat on Ruben has got to go laugh
Matt will put you on the fish if you book a trip with him but you have to have the right lures to put the big ones in the boat consistently and Moe's are the ones to get. I'm glad someone is out checking the growth progress of the fish on T-Wok. Keep the pictures and reports coming! cheers

I will be back in town next weekend. I was thinking about Cooper but Tawakoni is looking pretty great.

Thanks Mike.

nice job matt

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Well this time of year the cool fronts coming through either really fire them up or really slow them down for a day or two. Unfortunately, it slowed them down this time. But not all together. The weekend was tougher fishing, not nearly as good as it has been the past couple weeks, but you can still have a pretty good day on Tawakoni. The key to putting fish in the boat over the weekend was to let the birds go and kinda stay put when all the boats follow the next Bird Flurry. The fish are not piled up in huge schools right now, they are kinda spread out into smaller schools. If they go down stay in the same spot and wait. They will come back up in a few minutes and the birds will probably not even be on them. Just keep two rods handy. One with a Sassy Shad and one with a Chartreuse Fiesta. When the fish go down, start slabbibg and you will still put a few in the boat until the school pops back up and shows you exactly where to position.

The key to catching bigger fish is just to upgrade your bait. I have been using a Smack Swimbait or a 5" Sassy Shad on a 1oz jighead when they are schooling. Your numbers caught will go down, but the size has been worth the effort. Fish it slow and off the bottom and sooner or later a big one will latch on.

I fished all week and weekend and pretty much stuck to that same pattern and have done well even after the front. Its about to really blow up on Tawakoni, I just hope the rain will let us out!

Here's a few picks from the last few days.
