I have always hooked a minnow right under the dorsal fin. But I was fishing with a group the other day and some hooked the minnow by the mouth and others hooked right by the tail. I guess there is no right or wrong as long as the fish bite, just curious were everyone hooked theirs.

Through the eyes at the back of the eyesocket with thin wire hook. Minnow has awesome action.

I always hook them just behind the dorsil fin. I ain't heard of hooking them through the head, although that might be a good way to do it since I have been fishing before and it looked like the eyes had been sucked out when i missed a bite.

If I'm going to leave the minnow on under a bobber, then I hook it under the dorsal fin. Nice swimming action.

If I'm wade fishing the weed beds, dropping a minnow here and there, then I hook it through the eys or up the mouth. They retrieve faster and live longer.

Through the back of the eyes. I hooked them under the dorsal fin for years, until a friend of mine got me to hooking the eyes. The minnows will live much longer and have better action.

Thru the eye sockets, if fishing close to bottom...Sometimes in the back dorsel fin, above the spine, if using a bobber.

I hook all my minnows through the tail. They seem to live very long, and really move around trying to get that hook outta their tail.

Under the dorsal fin, taught that way as a kid and have always had better luck. I have tried it both ways, if they are hitting minnows it does not matter, i really try all I can not to use them, I will jig until my arm falls off before I break down to a minnow. WHY GET YOU HANDS WET! ITS TO DAMN COLD!

I always hook through the back under the dorsal fin. But have heard a lot of good suggestions...

I really don't think it makes a whole lot of difference, but I do like to hook them thru the lips. Hooking them thru the tail and dorsal fin work well also. Minnow are tough critters. As long as you don't hit any vitals, they'll swim well no mater where you hook em.

I hook em' in the lips. If the sandbass run through, you will loose a bunch of minnows hooking through the back. When hooking in the lips, they seem to live longer and have more action, they also stay on better.
