you can buy liquor by the drink with a membership card, several package stores in coffee city, south of tyler on lake palestine. it ain't that bleak!

How are you getting there, surrounding towns may not be dry. I went to school in Athens at TVCC and the closest there would either be Caney City, (just over Cedar Creek from Malakoff), or Gun Barrel City. We always went to Caney. Good Luck! JR

Cosmic, I remember you from the BFHP. Anyhow, there's still plenty of places to get a beer or a drink down there. You just have to have a "membership" which is usually available for free or a few dollars and is good for a year. This allows the establishment to skirt the law by offering memberships in their "private club". Man, that is one stupid law we have here in Texas - dry counties, sheesh. I thought prohibition ended quite a while back. You just have to make sure you stay well stocked at home as there is no running down to the quickie mart for a twelver when you run out. Just keep a dozen or so cases on hand and you'll be fine. I wouldn't let that influence my relocation decision too much - it sounds much worse than it is. You don't think all those East Texas boys down there are tea-totalers do ya?

Hey cosmic, I live in Tyler, and if you need to go to the package store, you can get to them in about 15 mins. They are North, East, and South of Tyler depending on what area you will be. As far as a drink with dinner, other than MD's or BK, just about every restaurant in town sells it. Are you going to be visiting or moving?

just started to fix this house,,, paint,,tile, roof stuff.. so I am started... then I have relatives next to MT. Pleasant of Hwy 30... would like to get something where I can get cable TV, fast internet etc and UPS so I can run the business without kick'n cows out of my way.. don't want a city.. just a little 3-4 bedroom, 2 bath,, 2 car garage,, not to much grass to mow and have the ability to run KNB from my home. So that is my problem... got to come down and drive around and meet some real estate people and see what is in my price range.. I really will miss Hooters... 2 for 1 wings, buy 20 get 40! big TV's... Mount Pleasant would be a good choice. It's located on I-30 for a quick shot into DFW area (about an hour and ten minute drive). DSL is available and a UPS store is located in town. Plus there's access to great fishing year round with Bob Sandlin, Cypress Springs, Monticello (power plant lake), & Welsh (power plant lake also) all located within a 15 minute drive from town. All are quality bass fishing lakes. Within 45 minutes of town there's really to many lakes to mention, but Fork is in this radius.

Me, I just live in the DFW area and drive out to Fork as needed. I understand your need to be near the water. Tough choices -- booze, t&a or close access to good fishing everyday.

It's Longview not Longville LOL! Longview is wet as can be, only one side of the loop is dry. Longview is right on I-20 and HWY 259 so anywhere you go out of town is easy come and go. It's a fast growing community. It's where I'm staying. Like a big city, but still has small East Texas town charm! So many lakes to choose from, it's amazing!
