When you are chosing a jig does the the trailer color matter? For instance, if you use a pumpkin jig should you use a pumpkin trailer or does it matter? Is there a rule to chosing trailer color? Naturals only go with naturals or darks only go with darks or it's always mix and match?

its both and neither....dont limit yourself to one color trailer for one color jig....some of my best days were thanks to a black/blue jig with a green pumpkin trailer...also...you need to consider the profile of the trailer...the bigger the craws and the more appendages, the more water it displaces, hence a slower fall...hope this helps.

I stick with what looks natural....I like green pumpkin zoom chunks on pretty much anything.

a white trailer in certain situations can be killer on a dark colored jig and actually downsizes the presantation in the bass' eyes.

brown jig with a grn pumpkin trailer is another good choice. Just experiment with what the fish want. That's how I do well with jigs, and I'm predominately a jig fisherman.

I like natural matched with natural for the most part myself...However, I have had some good days with a brown jig with a saphire blue chunk...Typically on nasty rainy days

Color is one thing but are you fishing rocks, timber or grass the head of the jig will make a lot of diffents.Like football head is good for the rocks.

Try matching the crayfish color with the jig in what lake your fishing and sometimes it doesent matter what color you use.

I try to match my trailer is some form to the shade of the jig. Maybe, just a slight variance. Then of course match the hatch.

Clear to lightly stained waters I go with natural colors and matching trailers with some contrasting glitter laminates. In stained to murky waters or cloudy/ low light conditions I'll go with dark colors and contrasting colored trailers.. Junebug/ Sour Grape or Dark Mellon/ Orange are good choices. Bazz
