I usually go out and fish at Isle Du Bois, Lake Ray Roberts, but recently, there are too many people and too many boats coming in and going out and scaring all the fishes away...
Anybody know where to fish at Lake Ray Roberts other than Isle Du Bois?
Thanks in advance~

Johnson Branch does not have a fishing pier; however, there is plenty of accessible shore line and it is not crowded. The park below the damn isn't crowded during the weekdays.

The beauty of Ray Roberts is there is tons of available bank space and a few nice parks. There a few old roads that lead right into the lake as well. Check a map.....

I have fished out of Isle du Bois a few times and you're right pretty crowded. I just walk past the fishing pier and into that back cove past the canoes. Plenty of nice bass in there. I watched a guy pull a solid 5lb bass out of there.

I went to Isle du Bois on sunday evening and there were quite alot of people there fishing. even though, it was drizzling and windy. I caught couple crappies that were around 13 to 14" (release all of them)... Fishing pier at Isle Du Bois is pretty good place to fish, but sometimes I get mad at people with no manners! For example, even though there is a public restroom, people urinating from pier onto the lake and throwing trashes out and people cutting your line cuz it got tangled (they could've ask you or try to untangle a line first... geez)
Always pros and cons... huh!?
I will probably get a guide to take me out at ray roberts. Dont really want to go back to the fishing pier in awhile.

When my sons were younger we used to go to Isle du Bois Park and catch good sized catfish and carp fishing next to the beach/swimming area (careful to stay well away from the swimmers). We used the sticky carp bait from Wal-Mart, fished on the bottom. I think good numbers of these fish were attracted to this area from the food that the kids would lose in the water. On good days we could catch quite a few of these fish in short order.

You talking about fishing below the spillway? That place used to be AWESOME. I have pictures of large catfish, a 12 lb hybrid, and hundreds of sand bass and crappie caught there.

I went back to Isle Du Bois on wednesday night. Fished from fishing pier and next to the beach/swimming area. I caught my personal best of 91 fishes and around 40 keepers! Fishing was amazingly HOT last night! However, I only kept 15 crappies and release everything else.
AWESOME DAY!
