Hello to everyone, I am new to the forum.
My dad wants to go fishing for red fish and I was hoping to tap into some of the members experiences here to see if anyone has recommendations. Dad talks about going to Louisiana but we are not limited to that area. He is in Pasadena. He still loves to fish but he is getting up in the years and it limits his travel and fishing time. I would like to take him while he still can. If anyone has ideas I would appreciate the help.

I'd look for guides in the Venice LA area. I'm sure there's tons of guides out of Galveston, Freeport, Port O'Connor, Port Aransas, Aransas Pass and Rockport or anywhere in between. Check chamber of commerce sites for the desired destination for recommended guides.

We went out with Jason in Galveston this weekend. http://www.galvestongulffishing.com/If you want to catch big bull redfish, Jason had us on the fish 15 minutes away from the dock and we fished non stop for 2hrs until we were worn out. Two of each caught 6 red fish over 30 inches and a dozen or so blacktip sharks, We had a great time..

My wife and I booked a trip with Captain Shane Mayfield out of Venice LA last March. We limited out on trout, not many reds. I would think this time of the year you would catch all the reds you wanted to with an experienced guide. Shane was recommended to me from one of the past LA CCA chapter presidents. His web site is http://www.adventure-south.com/. I'll definately plan on going back to Venice.

Venice/Buras guide: Ryan Lambert http://www.cajunfishingadventures.com/Or Sabine Lake: Dickie Colburn http://sabinelake.blogs.com/Both very good. You can make Sabine a Day-trip. If you go to Venice set aside several days if you can. It is a long way down there, but worth the trip. Good luck to you and your Dad - special times.

Shoot right up I-45 to fairfield and book a trip with Jackie Kennedy 903-603-3793. Other than during the bull red run on the coast Fairfield lake is unmatched for catching good sized redfish. Just take a look at his website. http://www.jackiekennedyfishingguide.com/

I've used LaRoue Guide service in the Spring down in Baffin Bay. They normally fish in the Galveston Bays systems with the exception of the April May time frame. I haven't fished with them around Galveston but they're great folks.

Venice is great....but you dont have to go that far.
Mary or Jeff Poe at Big Lake guide service on Calcasieu will put you on all the fish you can handle. ( 5 redfish - daily limit in LA, as opposed to 3 in TX) Try to get booked with Mary...she's great ! They have good accommodations too, unless you want to stay in Lake Charles or Cameron.
That night, you can also go to the new Cameron jetty pier and catch bull reds for $5 a day if you want to give him a good fight.
You can catch them in the surf right now at Holly beach too.
Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.
