My wife really loves me.......she got me an Abu-Garcia 7000 C3 for my birthday. I was admiring it last night and then a little bit of a shock. I figured it was made in Sweden, but then I saw the dreaded "Made in China" on it. I know she got it at Academy and I didn't think they sold the "made in China" Garcia's like Wal-Mart does. So do I keep it, go back to find a Swedish one, what?

Thanks!!

All of the 7000 models are made in China now days. It is still a pretty good reel. I would keep it. To find a Swedish made 7000 you would have to get an older one.

I call BS on the spec issue, they are junk real junk!!!!!
All of the BCX garcia models are china. I did a while back attempt to use them, you cant land a decent fish on them without stripping the gears. ( plastic)

The sweden models are still ready availiable at academy. Cabelas, and basspro

Take it back, you will less heartache in the long run.

Thanks BOB, the real problem is that we (america) do not have an import tax, that why the china junk is so cheap. When we send stuff over there, there is a 86% tax right away, so none of our stuff is sold over seas. Hopefully one of these days we will get a president with some balls and start returning the screwing we are getting from the foreign nations.
Just like the cash for clunkers programs.......91% that participated bought foriegn vehicles...That helped our economy alot!!!!!!!

I just bought a new 7000 C3i from Academy last week, its marked made in sweden right on the side. Now, the BCX's are made in china I personally did not know of any model C3's that were made. I bought a BCX from wally world when I didn't know the difference and when I found out, just ordered the bearings and gears from Abu Garcia for a few bucks and converted it to a C3.

I will check this out but I am under the understanding that the "i" in the model number denotes it was made in China. I will call my old Garcia rep and find out for sure. Not trying to start a fight, its just what I heard.

I just got the info from a reputable source. The "i" does denote assembled in China, not necessarily made there. Abu will ship all the parts to china for cheaper assembly. He is going to give me a list of the ones "assembled in China" and "made in China". I will keep yall posted.
