Ok here's a list of things that I don't like about that kayak:

The front hatch leaks, badly. Do not take into rough water/surf.

It doesn't track worth a darn. Mine turns to the right as soon as I stop paddling.

The rear hatch is not even close to waterproof.

If you have about 300 lbs in the kayak (it's rated for 325 iirc), water can enter thru the rear hatch and slowly fill the hull up with water.

The hull is about the least durable of any kayak made (not an issue unless you use it 50+ times a year like I did).

The front scuppers are inadequate, you end up sitting in a puddle of water that won't go anywhere (see the 300 lb rule if you are 250 or so like I am).

I broke one of the front straps on my hatch trying to tighten it (a strain it should have been able to take).

Really though, you have to use a good kayak to appreciate how bad the castaway is.

you get what you pay for. I had one when they first came out, and sold it two weeks later.

Just exactly are you trying to say, aggiegolfer? rolfmao

I'm sure everyone will chime in on their faves.

However, few can attest to thousands of hours on the water with their selected kayaks.

I make my living using kayaks. That being said, my fleet of Ocean Kayak Scrambler XT Angler Editions gets put to the test on a daily basis.

Unless you physically exceed the specifications of the Scrambler, there is no better kayak for the money, period.
