I've decided on a Fishmark 480 for my jonboat, but the transducer will have to go on the trolling motor.
Do I need to specifically get the trolling motor transducer or will the hull mounted one work ?
I've been told that the hull mounted will work, but I have my reservations. The trolling motor transducer package is a little more expensive. I want to get this right before I buy one, so thats why Im asking for any and all input. smile

Thanks

When I bought my 320 6-7 months ago, Eagle would even exchange the hull transducer for the trolling motor transducer.

Check with Eagle to see if that's an option before you pay out for the trolling motor transducer.

The only thing it cost back then was about $5 in shipping.

But, I believe you can use either transducer on your trolling motor. One is just meant for it. wink

Bought my 480 about a month ago at BPS. Had to buy an adapter for my trolling motor ($6.99 I think). I don't see how the transducer will work on the trolling motor without the adapter. Real easy installation.

I used the regular boat mount to put mine on the trolling motor. Get it level and thread a large hose clamp through the mounting slots. You're done! I do not think that it sticks down more than a 1/2 inch deeper than the mount made for it. You do need to bend the "ears" down a little to make the bracket conform to the trolling motor.

Acadamy also carries the trolling motor bracket for the skimmer transducer. Like Fishin Cop said, they are $6 or $7, so it's not much more than a good stainless hose clamp.
