Does any TFFrs have any information on the rescue going on Sunday around the NE side of the NEW LL Bridge? I went across the NEW toll bridge crossing the old lake on Sunday and saw about 15 or more rescue vehicles and many people looking over the bridge at the water on NE side of bridge. In addition there were some official boats working the water. The reason I wonder what happened is Saturday night we were fishing in that area under the bridge and there was a guy in a 10 foot (or less) flat bottom dingy working a trot line. We were commenting on how dangerous it was at the time as he was in this VERY small unstable boat around midnight and later. Not one single light on boat. (Bridge has pretty good lighting but still pretty hard to see him). In addition to being in a very small boat, after midnight with no lights, he was working a trot line by himself (with a dog in the boat) and NO MOTOR paddling around in the dark. This was about the most dangerous thing I have seen in some time. Then Sunday Morning I see rescue boats and many cops and rescue people working the exact area! I hope he is ok. We may have been the last people to talk to him. I have a bad feeling about it.

There are ways to run a trot line in the dark, by yourself and be safe. I used to do it all the time, with light and a life preserver of course. Was he in a boating lane? Normally one would place trot line in a area that boats don't or can't run fast through.

Normally one would place trot line in a area that boats don't or can't run fast through. I also forgot to mention we didn't see a life jacket. May have had one in boat but wasnt wearing it. That type boat has little or no floatation and may have just sank with no trace. Spro I agree it can be done safe but what I saw and safe were not on the same side of the lake. If you saw the size of this boat and the stability of the boat and NO LIGHTS, middle of night with a dog and a trotline, no life jacket... The whole area is a boat lane there. You can cross under the bridge from one side of the lake to nearly the other. He was about 2nd pilings from east side in about 15 feet of water. Kinda out of the way but not really. We do things that many consider unsafe all of the time. (Like being out on lake at all hours of the night) but I try to do only one stupid thing at a time. I can usually manage if something goes wrong if I only have to deal with one problem. I hope that I am still thinking about this for no reason but when I see the Rescue Teams searching lake just hours after we saw that guy (and even talked to him for just a bit seemed pretty nice.) it kinda fives me the chills.

I am glad to hear it wasn't the guy on a trot line. Jumping off is bad don't get me wrong but at least I wasnt the last person to talk to him. Thanks
