Matt and I headed down to Cedar Creek on Monday for a day of fishing. Decided on the way down to go ahead and pick up some brush and make a couple "crappie homes" while we were there.

Here is a "before" shot of all the brush:

Here is an "after" shot of one of the brush piles. We ended up having plenty to make 2 this size.

The fishing was pretty slow. The LMBs kept biting my jigs since the crappie were not that interested. Found a lot of 62 degree water, so things are about to get good. Marked a lot of fish, but just could not get them to bite in this crazy weather.

What do you use to weight the brush down?
How do you rig the tie down?

You know WWIII has started when the French surrender!

I use cinder blocks.

To tie them all together.
- Put trunks of limbs all together
- Tie a knot on one of the trunks
- Wrap the rope tightly around each other trunk...preferable in a "V" of the branch so that it does not slide out of the rope
- Tie a know on the last trunk

Make sure you keep the rope tight around each piece of brush and that the group of trunks is tight together. Then tie 1 or 2 cinder blocks onto the end of the rope and you are ready to sink.

Man, that sure looks like a school of goldfish there to the left, just looking for a room in that crappie hotel. Duck, be careful and keep your jigs away from those pesky goldfish. Some of them can get pretty big.

wink wink

I don't trust a catfisherman who doesn't have shad scales on his hands or his reels...period.
