Anybody have a good idea to keep fire ants off your rod grip ? My hands look like I've been playing with bull nettles.

How are they getting on your rod grip? You might try putting both your rod grip and your rod on bank sticks to keep it off the groud.

How are they getting on your rod grip? You might try putting both your rod grip and your rod on bank sticks to keep it off the groud. I use rod holders . Ants wander all over their territory (leaving a scent trail) until they find something edible like tiny particles of bait left on the grip. They then return to the mound and get others to follow the scent trail back to the food source. All the followers are leaving their own scent trails as they go , so the trail gets stronger and attracts more ants. You can get quite an ant party going on if you're not paying attention.

There are a lot of organic products used to keep ants out of gardens (try vinegar, mint, camphor, tansy, or clove oil). Do a Google search on repelling ants from gardens. You could keep your rod on a rod holder or bank stick so the ants have only one way to get to it, then spray your repellent (organic, of course) on the ground around the base of the rod holder. Also, clean the handle of the rod to remove any fish slime--that's probably why they ants are on the rod in the first place.

Just whip it out and pee on 'em. They won't be back for awhile.

Wouldnt suggest spraying OFF anywhere near your line/reel
Most of the time, it works every time.
