I'm a paraplegic in a wheelchair so accessibility is an issue.

Where are some good places to go to crab from a wheelchair close to Galveston?

I am pretty sure it is allowed, but I cannot offer any help on this. I am sure others will. Good luck and have fun.

Hey man welcome to the forum. Unfortunately there isn't many places to crab from a wheelchair. Your best bet is to wait until next year when the piers reopen and it's very easy to do from there and also the safest way for you. Hope this helps! smile

Try under the 146 bridge at Dickinson Bayou. Boat ramp is there and access should be OK. Used to run out of there and set a dozen crab nets, just off of the channel. I recall seeing crabbers on the bank around the ramp.

I am a paraplegic myself. There is a crab fishing pier down in surfside if you want to travel that far South.

Some of the parks on East Galveston Bay used to have small piers.
But I suspect many were damaged.

I ain't sure if they have the new pier fixed yet, but on Nasa Rd 1 there is a big park on one side that you could try and a large boat ramp area on the otherside that I always seeen crabbers at. I usually go there and fish under the bridge for specks and see em all the time.

Most any pier with a fish cleaning station. In Va Beach, VA we used to find the best crabbing way up in the inlets with fresher water.

I saw that crabbing area once when out looking for places to go. That day I didn't bring my aluminum ramp so I couldn't get on the platform in my wheelchair. Is there good crabbing there now?

I found a nice pier off NASA Rd 1 next to a public boat ramp but you need a ramp to get on it also.

I'd like to go crabbing and fishing this coming weekend so if there are any crabbing reports I'd love to hear them.

Thanks again

Yes I've gone there and it is a nice pier. Thanks for the reply. Do people catch crabs from that pier?

If you get crabs, just pour some rum down your britches, then throw in a handful of sand. The crabs will all get drunk and stone each other to death.

LOL, I LMAO, that's funny. Well, not sure about crapping, dude. Galveston is all tore up. I could cast the net for you and bring the crabs to you. I'm really that lonely, lol. Hope you find an answer smile
