Backlash 47: My dad, son and I are going tomorrow also look for us in a black and white astro. We'll be in grape or turkey creek. Good luck, catch a good one or two.

What happened? Part of the post to this thread dissapeared, and Lake Alan Henry thread that was posted earlier today is now gone. MarkA, We made a last minute decision to go to AH Fiday night. Tore up the crappie in Grape Creek. Maybe my reply to the other Alan Henry thread offended someone. Sorry. I will try to give you a call when we go again. Did not have time to call you before we got ready to go. Results of Roy and my fishing below. 36 slabs. Left Brownfield 4:30 PM. Blew out trailer tire 4 miles west of Tahoka. Put on spare and proceeded. Got to Grape Creek just at dark. Started catching slabs immediately. After about an hour a gentleman and his grandson came by with trolling motor just about dead. Engine problems and wanted a tow in. I told him I would be more than happy to do it. (been there before). One problem, he would have to wait a while until we were through fishing. He laughed and said he really didn't have a choice because he was about to tie off and spend a dark night on the water. Told him to tie off with us and fish. Worked out well. They caught some good keepers too, and made some more fishing friends. After a six mile tow in to the dock, loaded up to go home. 3 miles east of Tahoka, blew out other tire. Boat spent rest of night in ditch. Never will I buy Sumatomo tires again. Good and bad for a Friday night, but WOW! What fishing. Details - Tied off to trees in 34 feet of water. Put out green lights just below surface. Started catching slabs at a 10 foot depth on minnows. Also used white grub jigs, but they did not want them much. Only caught 3 or four on jigs. Crappie were hitting dead minnows better than live ones. Unbelievable!

Mike that is GREAT! buddy, just kidding about being greedy. It is still too early for me to get the fever, but this does kinda change things. Did you have an idea where they might be or just going on a hunch? Bet that was some fun brinning them in! 'Bout time AH got started and best for a couple of good guys to be there!
Thanks and Gig'em, Mark Fairchild

Mike, Good catch. My buddy is still killing them up Grape. He called last night (Sat.) and said he was taking Sunday off, but had limited nearly every day last week. Retired and found the fish, can't get much better than that!

CH, Looks like you've got the plan. 10 yo G'son and I got on the lake about noon Friday. We did make it to Grape that afternoon but didn't do any good. We ended up going to Gobbler and past. Not much luck there either, however, g'son did pick up a nice crappie on a red rattle trap of all things. Ended up with a couple of decent bass for the trip. For the 1st time on the lake, not a bad trip. Always said I don't have to catch fish to have fun. Weekend out with him was worth the trip.

Forgot to say earlier, but we may have to get us up a group to meet some more WTX fisherman a little later on. I know that JBT is closer for Sandwich, but not a big lot. Backlash, wish we had run into each other. We have probably crossed paths on Meredith a time or two over the years.
Looks like I will not get to go again until the second weeked of April. Got to save up a few coins for the Tyler trip on the first.
Ya'll catch-em!

Same with me, heard of Ince Cove, but did not know where it was. Or should I say, I knew where it was, but did not know it had that name?????

Crappir Hooker that name sure is fitting. I'm heading up big grape this weekend, hopefully i can do half that good. Hopefully it will be good fishing. The wind blew too bad to do any good sat. night. We caught a few, but that little cold front really made a difference.

Catfish, If I remember right, you did as well as I did Friday night. I only put 14 keepers in the livewell. Most of them just over 10". It was the left handed Aggie that I took with me that put me to shame. He would drag one in and give me the look then say recken I need to measure this one? "Just shut-up and put him in the box." He is the one who caught 22 of the 36. We went past the two story house on top of the hill about a 1/2 mile and fished the trees in 34' of water. Without putting out a marker, it would be hard to tell a person which tree. If you have been up Big Grape, you know what I mean. One tree among several thousand. Good luck and good fishing.
