I have to go to Wichita Falls for a week or so. Does anyone have any suggestions about any fishing spots in town?

I'm looking for a place to fish for an hour or two in the evenings in town. Does anyone have any info on the Wichita River or Sikes Lake?

Use to fish at Lake Diversion below the damn. Diversion is a ways out, ask about Lake Arrowhead. Stay out of the river Northeast of town, the city use to dump waste in it. Lake Wichita near the spillway should be ok, lake was silted in back in the 50's. Left Wichita whem I was 18, only been back to the cemetarys and for chicken fried steak at the P3, mostly on the way through.

Lived in WF all my life till moving to Ft. Worth. Have had many times of catching catfish on the dam at Lake Wichita. Used mainly stink bait. Have had times of sandbass along the dam. Best bet is for cats.

...might consider Buffalo Reservoir out in Iowa Park off 287. I have never been but will be checking it out next time I'm up.
There is also a place north of town towards Shepard AFB where they stock trout -never did any good there though...can't remember the name.
Good luck!

don what is p3? big fan of chic fried steak and i am in wf alot... as of late, try lake arrowhead in the state park for crappie in the dock or pier area.....or along the dam, sandbass school there in the evenings. crappie are along the dam also....you would also want to try lake buffalo, on 287 north, about 30 minutes from wichita if you like bass fishing....try carolina rigged plastics or shallow diving cranks along the dam. wichita river??? don't try it, worthless murky water that is hard to navigate pm me for details
I don't really know what to type here.

TPWD will have the trout stocking schedule on their website; I haven't checked if it is there yet. Usually the trout stocking doesn't start until after Thanksgiving.
