They don't keep them for eating/mounting anymore. The problem I see most often is people that have no idea how to care for a big fish hauling it around to weigh it in and show it off. Nothing wrong with it, but carrying a fish by hand 200 yards from the boat ramp pretty much means it is going to die. Can't tell you how many big overs are brought in during the spawn that are caught by out of state guys that think they are "required" to bring in a 9lber. No doubt a great fish, but pretty senseless to carry in a fish like off a bed.

I have seen time and time again a fish in the local newspaper of a good fish that was weighed at our marina and featured out of another marina. Meaning the person weighed the same fish at at least 2 different locations.

Your right about that too. Even local tournaments I see and have been in, people lug these big beautiful fish around like a dead rabbit. They think if they swim off, they live. Wrong!

To many small bass could be effecting the over all performance of the lake, and they do eat up lots of food which I can say Lake Fork this year above all others is full of shad and not short of any food. Now sometimes the big fish are not aggresive feeders like the small ones. Tournaments have a mortality rate which would add into a harvest of the bottom end. The true trophies would still not get targeted. Now as for as big fish I catch and my customers catch as many as any of the guides out here including you we just do not lie about the size we weigh them and call it like we see it ! If it is a true giant we bring it to certified scales. REAL GUIDES DO NOT HAVE TO LIE TO GET CLIENTS IN THE BOAT! I figure if the bottom end could get bumped up it would give all guides some extra work which we all could use including you. Just Part Of My 2 Cents !

Randy didn't say small fish didn't need to be taken out. He said tournaments target the genetically superior fish that we should be leaving in the lake. He is 100% correct and nobody can deny it. And if you are insinuating that Randy is lying about the fish he catches you are insane. The 13 I talked about in my earlier post, yeah he caught it. Oh yeah the 2 10's in one day, that was in his boat too on 4-13-03. The 14-15ish pound giant I lost in April, guess what, I was with Randy then too. Or how about the 14 he caught in May a couple years ago with another guide in the boat. Or maybe the 13lb lake record at Cypress means something. Randy catches big fish, I have seen it with my own eyes.

He doesn't bring them in because it can kill them. Ask Cameron I'm sure he sees it all the time.

Did yall know that I caught 657 bass this year that weighed 15 + pounds... I caught them on live catfish and ate them because the meat is tender... LOL

Randy and Marc are both good fishermen / guides / men. Can we please get a moderator lock before somebodies nose looks worse than mine after this surgery.

We don't need a lock, we need to get back on topic. And we need you to stop eating all them monster bass Clint. LOL

I bet that nose is a little beat up!!! Hope you heal quick and get back on the water.

Randy has a good point about the quality unders. But I believe what we were discussing was the relocation of 12" and under fish, then returning the quality under the slot fish back in Lake Fork.

This is just a poll guys, with some good input. Let's get back on track. And by the way it's great seeing the passion most anglers have for this lake, regardless of which side of this poll we are on.

I'm still curious why no one has addressed the booming population of whitebass? Why tweak the largemouth bass population when such a voracious species is slowly changing deep water spots?

Cameron maybe Lake Fork Marina could offer a bounty for the largest white bass removed from the lake each month. That means you would have to weigh the boogers though.
I still have many of my anglers who have never caught or seen a white bass out of the lake. I have been hearing of them for several years now but personally have never caught one.

She's not broke, no reason to fix her.

Last check... Exxon, Mobil, and Texaco were doing very well. Sonic too. The DQ seems to be going downhill... so you tournament boys need to concentrate some effort there. LOL

They are out there. Lance Vick has found huge schools of them with birds running, I have caught them on the submerged bridge near running creek on the east arm and as far north as the johnson lake dam on the west arm.

I agree entirely. I would even vote to move it down to 14" like other lakes. Be more creative with the tournaments where fish aren't kept in a live/(death) well all day. That has more effect on survival rates than catch and release.

The problem is people may talk about taking sandbass out but nobody will actually take the time to do it. Most people who fish for them here at Ray Roberts throw them back.

Leave it alone!! It will just bring more tournaments. There is already to much pressure!!
