howdy, new to the site. just thought i might start a new subject. been going out to lake o the pines latley for some crappie. i think this warm trend a really messed up the running of the crappie. new years eve, my brother-in law and I pulled in 41, which i couldn't complain about. then it went down hill. went out day after new years, hit 14 (very nice slabs). went out on 01-07, only got 4 (but it was at night time, only fools on the lake till 3 in the morning). went out by my self yesterday pulled in 12, which was plenty to feed 4 people, with some left over. been hitting the gps spots where they should be like they were this time last year, they just were not interested. i did notice they opened the spillway. wondering if opening up the dam, if the crappie is moving close to it. if someone knows, then let me know. tried around there, but not much luck. found the 2 lbs in the deep still on the bottom.
Use as many fishing poles as possable, for you never know when school will be out.

Been fishing a few years and river fishing is always good as long as its not on the fall, gates turned off. Every thing seems to be there, lots of shad and everything that eats shad. On the lakes when they are pulling water level down, fishing slows way down. Hope this helps.

Whenever they draw water out of Pines the fish turn off. They may actually suspend. I'm a bass chaser and that is what happens to them when the gates are open. Now crappie may be different. Have you tried shallow say 15' brush? Or is the same areas you have been fishing just suspend your bait. It just what I would try, I'm no expert.
