I haven't fished there yet, I'm kinda new to fishing the Trinity. Is there a park over in that area or anything?

nice fish, northsidebass, I've had pretty good luck on the trinity. Like most of us (being non boat owners), i cant believe what a bad rap the Trinity river gets. I'ts my best banking resource. Yes, its hit/miss, but i have have some pretty good days.

I think the bad rap is because of the consumption ban, other than that, it's one of my fav places to fish.

I used to walk along the trinity shore by the Naval base late in the afternoon casting worms toward the shore and always got hits and caught a quite a few bass. The Trinity has a lot of big bass, catfish and giant alligator gars you might even see those Nutria swimming around they look like beavers but with a long round tails. If you still can get back behind the Lake Worth spillway and you can fish in the river and ponds that are back there.

But I did see two animal swimming in the river the other day and I thought it was some Beaver but they were a little too far away for me to tell what they were. I bet it might have been Nutria, I didn't even know they were in the river. And how did you get behind the Lake Worth spillway? From Roberts cut-off rd?

To get to the Lake Worth spillway from Roberts Cut Off turn on to Meandering Rd at the Quickway store and go towards the Naval base and Federal hospital go around the back of the hospital and follow the rd untill it ends at the spillway. The Texas State fish hatchery is across from the spillway area. Camp Carter is near there too.

i've been fishing alot recently at the trinity river on university, i go to the spot that you turn left at old university st? and the fishing spot is right under the big ol' train.
what i've noticed... is that i haven't caught jack [censored] above that dam thing. It looks really good though, logs n stumps... i actually did catch 2 1 right after the other on a spinner.. but after that all i caught was nothin! and i kept gettin snagged if i wasn't usin a spinner. I always try top water, never got one as of yet.
maybe for the past 2 days i've been going down below the dam, and boy i've been catching a lot more!! i guess because it's really rocky?? and i always see LOTS of baitfish. yesterday i caught 5 or 6 in about 30 minutes? maybe about 3 3lb-2lb bass and the other 3 1lb or less. i was using a plastic worm with a weighted hook, because if you do texas rig or dropshot you'll get snagged a lot do to all the rocks. man them bass love it when that worm is on that rock and just falls off, then BAM got one!!! woot.
what do you guys use when fishing the trinity??
