Going to Joe Pool Sunday if the weather isn't terrible. Anyone been lately and had luck with the largemouth? Might try the crappie too.

Fish are just outside of the picnic tables....

The water was just up to the edge of the picnic tables last time I was out. Its above full and I caught a bunch of little guys with only one that could have scared 3lbs.

The bigger fish will start showing up soon, I hope. Long points I'm guessing.

I was out Sunday, and most of the fish I cought came from 2 to 7 foot deep around trees and brush with a jig. I threw swim baits, spinnerbaits, and worms but the jig was all they seemed to bite. They were right next to the cover as well. I had a couple of overs, but only five fish total. All my fish came before 10 am, then I could not even buy a bite.

The water had actually started to clear up some, and was between 76 and 80 degrees.

Hope that helps. PM me if you like and I would be glad to share more details. Good luck on your trip.

Thanks everyone. I know sunday is a long way off but with Little League and work it's hard to get out sometimes so I have to plan ahead.

I was out there several days ago. You can whack a bunch of little ones (1-2.5#) right up on the bank, super tight to cover....pretty much situation normal for high-water conditions like now. You can catch those on a buzzbait, frog, spinnerbait when its cloudy. A beaver and a jig do it when the sun gets out.

All of my bigger fish came from the old bank line; as would be expected. +1 on the jig. Caught em on a squarebill and a Series 3 as well.

PM me if you are interested in a trip.

A guided trip sounds like a good christmas trip for me. I have fished mostly rivers and creeks up in TN and NY for the last several years. I need to learn lake fishing so I will probably give you a call in a month or two.

What is a beaver?

Water's receding now, so enjoy the flooded brush while you can. If you're somewhat lucky and can avoid the jet fleas and skiiers, you can get into some schoolies just pounding the shad on a few main lake humps and points. Nothing big, but sure is fun. Sandies too. Hooked up with a double on a red eye shad last weekend.

I would say the fish are ready for the fall pattern now. They killed the yellow magic yesterday, it was explosive! The only way they would eat the bait was if you were ripping / popping it non-stop as hard as possible. Unbelievable action yesterday at Pool. Nice 4lb, look how he ate this.

Well Joe Pool is only up 1.2 ft now and the sun is bright and temperatures are warming back up today and this weekend. Any ideas where these fish might be holding now?
