Got some nice fins and tail off a blacktip. Anybody know how to preserve them? THANKS!!!!

I'm gonna assume that the rest of that tasty blacktip is being used for the grill ... *ahem*

Do you mean preserve the fins, as in pickled in formaldehyde, or do you mean dry them out so you can display them?

Yes guys I kept the rest of the shark. It's in my ice chest. I DO NOT waste game. Heck I even kept the head.


Anyway, I would like to display it dried out....I'm experimenting with one right now with salt and trying to dry it out. I've never tried this with fins but works great with mammals....

Huh ... theres a guy on here who dries & preserves flathead catfish heads ... perhaps the same techniques would work for your purpose?

You can leave it outside and let it dry.
