After the CAT tourney don't even get me started on Fork....
Not trying to be a downer for you but it's not an easy lake to catch crappie on, at least for me. James Rains might be able to give you a little more insight.

Minnows on any of the bridges should get you bit but fork is a lake that I will not even think about using a jig.

Fork used to be my favorite lake for crappie back in the day. Didn't take much effort to catch 50 and on a good day could get a 100 or more. Now it's the most frustrating lake I've ever been on-hard to even catch on minners and don't even get me started on jigs! Only jigs I could get a somewhat consistent bite was perch colored Panfish Assassins. Minners work best once you find 'em. Had decent success on 515 and 2946 bridges and BP's around 20 ft.

Cool rain water this past week has brought a few of the bigger crappie into shallower water. We need to get together early next week.

Dont bother with Fork this weekend! I went out today, and when I got to the ramp at Rainswood, and saw all the boats I remembered it is the McDonalds Big Bass Splash ( Green Trash Fish Tourney). The boats were so thick and running up and down the bridge, I just decided to go home. Bad call on going to fork today!!!!

Yeah, I'd like to get another trip in sometime when I get back to being gainfully employed-yep, times are pretty tough right now!

I learned alot crappie fishing on fork when I was a kid, many a day under those bridges with my granfather, and dad..always stayed at the minnow bucket.. i only make it back there once or twice a year to fish nowdays.. seems like the duck hunting is better than the crappie fishing over there these days.

Yeah, most of my early experience came from there with my grandparents. They were both retired, lived near Quitman, and fished Fork at least 5 nights a weeks-weather permitting. I would tag along whenever I could and we could catch the heck out of them crappie.

Man, this don't sound good.Been deer huntin' for about the last 3yrs, but not this year. Was planning on some serious crappie fishin' this fall/winter. Is it really that hard to catch a limit now? Also, no jig bite? I remember when I could shoot a jig at the 515 bridge & catch 1 - 5 fish on straight casts.

not saying it's impossible, and you can still pick up fish off the bridges during summer. the BPs down by the dam still produce. like i said i only make it there to fish a couple times a year anymore and that may have something to do with it. I know there are still alot of the faithful old salt's down there who still wear'em out and they wouldnt be caught dead talking about it on here.
