The crappie are always stacked under 99 bridge. I've seen them on my depth finder everytime I go. Getting them to bite is a different story, but they should be more active with the water cooling some.

I may make it down on Friday. Going to hit Dunlap again on Monday. Got to see if there are any fish I did not give a case of sore mouth to. Things should be lighting up at Choke here pretty quick.

Had a great time & all parts still work so mission ALMOST accomplished lol. Hope everyone else had a good day. Going to Calaveras in the morning for some downrigging!!!! Was a lot tougher for me. I didn't catch a fish. I did have one on that hit my crankbait and stripped some drag and then kept on truckin with my bait. Oh well, maybe next weekend. I put in at 99 bridge and ran all the way to SS state park.

RChris all the fish we boated (lost a couple 2-5#ers in the trees) came off the drop into the Riverbed. Wife caught a few fish on pearl colored senkos TX rigged. All mine came off TX Rigged Brush hogs in watermelon pepper or watermelon seed. Hopefully next time we can do more catching & not as much fishin

Bite was slow for me Sunday. Caught a couple dinks and one catfish on crankbaits near trees in 8-10ft. Had a couple blow ups on a topwater buzzribbit. Biggest thing I saw was a 10ft alligator near the spillway.

I went in the morning and and did pretty well. nothing big but I caught some fish. I got hit on my cranks again. Went to Naylors Pond Pit and caught 3 fish all were about 2 pounds. Left and tried a new tank dam and caught 5 more 4-1/2 being the biggest. Sun came up and it got hot pretty quick with no wind. Fish cut out and I went to DQ for lunch!
I met up with Mexicanjun and we hit the river after lunch. I never been up that way so he showed me around. I caught two fishing around him and then left driving around looking at stuff. Found a tank dam and hit it with a white spinnerbait and I landed a 6+. Nothing after she hit me on the pond dam.
I met back up with Mexicajun and hit Mason point. Caught two more dinks and called it a day after the wind picked up and caused the lake to get choppy fast.
I had a good day and I had fun learning a new part of the lake. The river area of Choke is a good looking piece of water. I will go back on the other side of 99 bridge next time. I have found fish at the lake but no monsters. I am good with 5-7 pounders for now!
I may have to bring my minnow bucket next time and hit that bridge for your so called "crappie"... I call em SAC-A-LAIT!!

I saw a gator on the main lake that I swear was 15+...
I grew up around these monsters and that guy was a huge beast. I was about 10 feet away from it when I finally saw him. He was inside that grass mat hiding like a cat ready to pounce!!
I only noticed him cause I saw his eyes peeking out the huge mat of grass. I turned the trolling on in the oposite direction and when I hit the button he cam flying of there pretty quick! Got me kind wet from his tail.
So, becareful out there those guys will turn a small boat over in a heart beat if you don't watch it.
I will take the camera next time and I will take pics of the big guy. Thats the second time I saw one out there that I know was over 15 feet.
I want to prove to the nay-sayers that those gators are not that big out there. I know there is a state record out there. But don't even go trying to catch em!! They keep out the ski boats!! hehehehe
Louisiana state record is 19 feet long so don't ever doubt they might be a gator out there over 15 feet.
I know this was off topic.... but I just wanted to warn yall and be on the look out since the water is cooling down and those gators will be actively hunting!
