There is nothing like the thump of a 1.5lb plus crappie on my jig when using my ultra lite. Or seeing the float go under when using the jig and float.

nats, when i fish with a jig and float, the float does not necessarily go under. it may go up. or it may go up and down, down and up. whatever the movement is, set the hook. 90% of the times I had a crappie on.

Every which but loose, I love it. I'd rather catch a 2lb crappie than a 6 lb bass.

didn't have the scale with me but nailed a good sized 15" inch slab last weekend
more than a thud! a wham!
i thought it was a bass at first
wife caught one the same size too, her's a skinny lil fella
17" is the biggest i have gotten
you can't feel anything or may not even see anything when using a bobber
you can stand there for a few minutes and not even know you a fish!
bobbers are for taking beer breaks while fishing!
= )

Is that so bad? Congrats on that 17 incher. This last year the largest I was able to boat was 14.5 inches. 3 years ago I caught an 18 incher out of Ray Roberts.

You got'm contained, like fishing in a corral. I bet it's a nice quit lake. Will they allow motor boats on the lake? I fished small 20 acre lakes in Kansas, some good fishing. Only cows and buzzards around.

no wake is the only "rule"
but nothing is inforced
just the old buddy system
at times its like fishing in a barrel during the summmer time
very little shade, so all the fish are under the docks
we have a little 14 foot aluminum boat with a 40lb trolling motor that is plenty fine for that lake

You all need to try the puddle jumper and see that they will lure in the crappie.
