What type of hook set-up do you use with this stuff. Do you use trebles with the spring around the shank, sponge, or with the dipping tubes? I can't seem to be able to keep the bait on the hook when I cast

I've tried using tubes and other hook modifications with the different punch baits, but I always come back to using just a plain old treble hook. The most exotic I get now is that I may use a red treble hook. Stir your catfish goo up with a stick, dip the hook close to one edge of the bucket, drag it out diagonally, and boom... a wad of nastiness wrapped around a treble that a fish that you may possibly eat will wrap his mouth around and get himself hooked. I understand about the bait slinging off during a cast, so I've had to modify the way I cast the loaded hook and throw as softly as I can with a heavier egg sinkered carolina rig to carry it the distance required. I agree with whoever commented that keeping a variety of punch baits and other types of bait on the boat with me just in case, but I tend to rely on SureShot most of the time.

I too usually just use a treble hook. DK will stay on pretty good as long as you keep it cold. Once it gets in the heat, it tends to get real soft and flies everywhere. You may have to keep your bait next to the beer (or cold beverage of choice) in the cooler. During the summer months this is what I usually do, come winter time you shouldn't have any problems keeping your bait from getting soft.

+1 on standard treble hooks #4's help control the dink bite. I keep the S7 tubes on my line even when I switch to punch baits just push it up.
