I dont think so. I think as long as you provide enough cover the fish will inhabit it and use it.

I really like the brushpile write-up Robby Rose has on his web site. There is a lot of work involved to get it right.

Brush pile setting is an art. You have to get it right for them to be great. The main thing to remember is you have to have something to lead them there.

Most hardwood tree trimmings are gonna last considerably longer underwater than a brushpile made from say crepe myrtle, bradford pear, or other shrubbery trimmings.

Of course, PVC will last a VERY long time down under!

Here is a pic of the newest cover I have been building. Measures about 95 inches across the top spans and weighs in at over 100 lbs. I will need a stout youngin with me to get these dudes situated.

I had not realized that he updated the cover info on his site.
Well written and informative.

Tommy,
Have you thought about maybe drilling some holes at the bottom of the bucket to slide some PVC in horizontally. There's probably a better way, but that may keep it from turning over.

Great Design!!!

No I had not thought about that but it sounds like a good idea.

What I am going to do is drill some 1/2 inch holes all through the large PVC for baitfish to move in and out of. Also should make it sink faster
