I would think an 18 footer would be a little small for guiding. I would think a 21ft. would be mo' better.

I'm with LP on this one........ I got a 19' Carolina Skiff and I can fish 4 people (including myself) comfortably, but I aint guiding..... I don't think I would get anything smaller than a 19' though...... I've heard they are really awesome boats. I think Cliff Hill has an Xpress boat if I aint mistaken???? Might be a Polar Craft?? Might hit him up I'm sure he would be straight up with you as a fellow guide and give you sound advice; he's a heck of a good fella.

One of these days I'm going to Land the BIG ONE!!

I have the SV18CC. It works well for me and the wife. Although when she does go it is a little crowded with the stuff she carries. I had to add an additional ice chest to put fish in because she won't share with her lunch cooler. If 3 people go, I try to limit the gear taken. Also, water conditions need to be considered for guiding. 15mph winds are a little rough for the 18 and can be dangerous when loaded to the max while on open waters. I would opt for the 20 or 22 to guide from. My next will probably be the 22.

but no quality issues right?
Never used an xpress or a yamaha
Im guessing from your answers that the brand name is fine

This is actually replacing my old "small boat" for 1-2 customers. (normally one, and I can pricebreak with less fuel consumption) I started that when fuel went way up last year.

For larger groups I use my mako offshore but fuel consumption is a huge consideration in pricing on that boat.

Sorry i should have said this was to replace my small boat.

Xpress boats are tough. Matched with the Yammie and aluminum trailers they are good dependable rigs. The motor has a flush line already on it to run freshwater through it. I just spray the rig down in the evening, flush the motor for a few minutes and it does just fine. This is my second Xpress. I traded up from a camo 17 duck boat to the 18CC. My wife wants the 22 next. She just recently started joining me and feels more at ease in a bigger rig.

Randy Routh of North Texas Catfish Guide and guide Mark Parker of Richland - Chambers both use Xpress. They can be found in the Striper / Hybred section.

Easiest boat to fish in ive ever used...
Everything is just right where it should be.
Rods have to come out, but i dont leave my rods in the boat anyways. Rest of my gear locks in the massive storage compartment under the front deck. 90 hp 4 stroke yamaha is PLENTY for me. Will be adding some elevated rod holders. i have a 6 pack of heavy duty scottys with extensions waiting to be mounted.

Downside: Shes rough on a guy with 3 year old neck surgery. My dumb self just needs to slow down.

Shes shallow enough I gotinto a lot of places I normally cant in the mako, and put the client on some flounder.
