I was scouting out spots on grapevine lake to bank fish from and so far I have been thinking alot of the Scotts landing area...I know the mouth of the cove is fairly deep and i also know that in the area people swim during the day is fairly shallow and seems to be a mud flat. Anybody have any experience in this area? Does it seem to be a good spot to fish for big cats? I am going to try it tomorrow during the day. Any info would be very much appreciated!!!

Its all good... no i went out to the boat ramp area and fished the mouth of the cove i know where you are talking about thoough. I think the rain has messed with the fishing a little also.

I will tell you a little hint here guys. Those baseball fields, whatever the name of that park is? Just north of Scotts there. The boat ramp facing south off the point (Sand Bass Point maybe?) is right there. Anyhow, that long stretch of area between that boat ramp and the next boat ramp north of there is all PRIME area for bank fishing. The water out there hits 20-25' not too far off the shore and there are lots of humps and stuff out there. I catch a lot of good fish drifting in that area. Anywhere from that sandbass boat ramp to the island. Just a little food for thought for you.

hey thanks riverrat! i know it gets pretty deep out on the other side like 25- 35 but i always get snaged up on everything out there. which isnt good when you out all night and the only light you got is the moon and a flashlight... and also add a few beers into that mix.. lol not to fun

Go further north towards the island before the boat ramp there. It is clear, I drift it all the time. Don't cast out 200 yards either, you get hung up a lot on the humps. Switch to a 3way swivel rig

On the 3 way swivel rig you really dont need a float but you can use one. I use about a 10-12" leader on the bottom part of the swivel and run that to a weight. Then about a 36" leader on the hook leader and you can put a float on this about 6" above the hook. Use whatever size weigth you want.

If you can find them, get a cross line swivel, it is more true to 3 way than a 3 way swivel is. It is more sturdy as well in my opinion. Barlows has them in Richardson
