IMO Making up a C-rig on the water is a waste of fishing time. For my C-rigs I like to package
them at home on the counter instead of on the deck of the boat. I like to use a leader that is
at least three lbs lighter than the main line on the reel. This way on a snag the leader will break
before the main line and I won't lose the weight, bead and clacker.

I buy small jewelry bags from Hobby Lobby to store the premade rigs in my terminal tackle box.
On each bag I'll write the leader length, hook size and lb line used. Tie the leader to the hook and
swivel then wind the leader around three fingers and slip it into the bag. This way I have ready
access to another C-rig hook, leader and swivel.

I use the styrofoam floatie things from Wal-Mart, the ones our kids use to swim with...I will tie a leadet from swivel to hook and wrap it around that and keep a bead and sinker in my pocket and almost have it down to a NASCAR Pit Stop time.

definitely time saving!
I use a cheap tackle binder
w/ the ziplok style bags inside.
Rig up a bunch of c-rigs
& drop shots & put them in the bags.

I had a couple of 4" nap rollers left over from painting & I use them to wrap my pre-rigged C-rigs around. The nap on the roller holds the hook point tight against it. I then slip the roller into a Crown Royal bag (probably the best part of the whole tip is emptying the Crown so I can use the bag, LOL!). I close the bag & store it in a side pocket on my tackle bag.

The bag is big enough to store 2 rollers...1 with finesse c-rigs & the other with standard c-rigs.

In addition to the leaders I make up with swivel, leader and hook, I also make up even more with just the hook and leader material with no swivel. Since I use braid on the main line (65 to 80 pound test) and 20 pound Big Game mono for the leader, usually the mono breaks, so most of the re-rigging does not require the swivel, since it's still holding the bead and weight. All I have to do is tie on the hook and leader onto the old swivel, and then I'm ready to go after i thread on my soft plastic.

I just tie them on the water. If you are tying a palomar knot it takes less than a minute to get going again. Also I dont like have the sharp hook swinging around while tying to the swivel. IMO

I too pre-tie my c-rigs, this is great tip. After seeing Wilcox use a CD case, I started saving my little bags from split shot, and swivels ect. This way you don't have to go by the bags. I also use a shower curtain ring to keep them all together. Also, since the writting wears off the bag, I writh the specs on a piece of paper and put it into the bag.

Great tip John. Saves the time of tying 2 knots.

Ok here is a stumper... When you have one tied on and in the truck or in the boat how do you keep the dad gum weight from sloowly pulling the drag out and tangleing everything with in reach???
