Man...talk about tough days. Had to be one of the worst ever for us(Three fellas). First it was the wind...couldn't hold in a spot that allowed a good presentation. Second, when we did find a spot out of the wind, the bite was almost non existant. Third, tried everything (minnows, jigs, cussing). Hardwoods, cedars, you name it. Tough, tough day....

We moved around a bit. We were in a 20 foot lund (white/grey). Sweet ride and no danger of taking on water (its a v-hull) but I think it definately had the water stirred up and the fact that a front was blowin through didn't help.. We around Wolf for a while, so you might have seen us, but we moved around a lot trying to find a place out of the wind and some fish that were cooperative. Didn't matter....no fish to be had. Lucky we had a few sodas to keep us hydrated. What were you drivin...we might have seen each other.

We were out there Sat. as well. Caught 16 with only 6 keepers. After the wind whipped up we only caught 2 or 3 fish.
We put in at the Buck Creek ramp, saw a couple of Lund's out there, one had an older fellow with his son. Could that have been you? We were in a white center console Fishmaster.
I talked to a couple of guys at the ramp when we were leaving, they had a tough time as well. All of ours came in 18 - 20 feet of water, tried shallower and deeper without success.
Just went back and re-read your post - 3 fellas - so that wasn't you that we saw -

Find the baitfish and you can find the crappie.. Caught limits both Sat. and Sun. on jigs in 10 to 17 ft. of water. Sat. the bite was good mid-morning and Sun from 2:00 to 3:00 in the afternoon. Fihed standing timber mainly.

Ok...I'll bite. How does one go about finding the baitfish? Would appreciate any advice you can provide.

LOOK FOR THE BAITFISH TO BE HITTING THE TOP OF THE WATER IN SMALL SCHOOLS. EASIER TO SEE WHEN THERE IS NOT MUCH WIND. PLUS THEY WILL BE VERY VISIBLE AROUND THE STANDING TIMBER FROM 1 TO 3 FT. DEEP JUST SWIMMING AROUND. THERE WERE SMALL SCHOOLS OF THE LITTLE SANDBASS CHASING THEM ALSO.

If any of youall see me out there stop by and shoot the breeze, I am there just about every sunday Usually put in at Buck creek. I am in a Black and silver Lund. lately I have been exploring different places in the timber with alot of success finding good pockets of crappie in the edges of the timber lines in 20 ft of water with a shallow ledge nearby.

Crappie Cat, I (we) saw you last sunday. We were in the tan tracker. We did not do as good as you. We only managed 4. Next time I'm out there I'll stop by and shoot the breeze with ya. I've only been able to catch keepers under the RR bridge and would love to find more keepers in other spots. I've looked and tried many many spots, but have always struck out. I will keep trying.

Hey Wishin you left to soon I was going to give you some tubes that i was using, I was deep in concentration catching all the crappie and turned around and you were leaving a very good area. It looks like you have to spend more time in one area and less time on one tree, move around more and you will find them hanging around one or two trees only. That is the pattern that i have found that has been working for me. I can't tell you how the others are doing it because they don't give any details just tid bits of info , just find 20 ft and stay there and you will find them.In that depth range See you out there or maybe you and i can hook up and go in one boat to RR and GV.

good tip on moving from tree to tree. Probably fished 30 trees to catch a limit each day. Stay with the bigger trees. They have been holding more fish.

Not only does just certain trees hold fish but only certain areas on THESE trees hold fish You can catch five on one side and not get a bite on the other. It all boils down to where the limbs are positioned on the tree. Paul knows which tree holds fish and where to fish on each tree
