Has anybody ever had much luck fishing for crappie during the winter months at night. I was thinking about trying it this weekend.

I don't know how the fishing is in winter, but i do know that fishing is fun even when it's cold and nothing is biting! Go fishing this weekend and have sime fun. Jig real slow or use a small minnow.

we've done alright at night for crappie while fishing for whites at canyon lake from the mouth of the river up to rebecca creek. we use green lights and minnows.
i've also caught some nice crappie while trolling for whites in 30-40 ft of water.
we usually catch bigger ones in the summer in turkey cove. dad caught one a few years back that was probably a record. i thought it was a large bass at first.
i really don't "fish" for crappie at canyon, but always seem to catch them in the process of chasing whites. biggest ones we catch hit 1 oz white slabs bounced off the bottom.

Just came in off CC and we caught some of the biggest crappie I have ever seen. We were fishing 1/4 jigs on the bottom behind a big brush pile in about 12 foot of water.
