I cant find any information on how to convert my Humminbird 997 gps waypoints to a Lowrance unit. I have downloaded the data from the Humminbird to an SD card. Not sure what to do to get the data into the Lowrance unit now. I suspect there is a format conversion but I cant find it on the Lowrance website. Any help appreciated.

And I would like to know how to do the opposite, I want to download Lowrance to my 997. Everytime I open HumminbirdPC it goes to Error 0. Do I have to have the 997 hooked up to pc to open the software

Do a search on the web for some software called GPSBabel. It will do the conversion for you. I use it quite a bit and have never had much trouble going from one format to another.

There has to be a way to transfer waypoints via an SD card without using 3rd party software, isn't there?

Not that I am aware of. Navionics Hotmap Explorer works great. Plus you get maps that you can stare at on your PC. The catch is that the HD Maps with 1ft contours cost more for each one. It's great to use on a lake you never have been to.

humminbird has a program thats easy to use- but its only to convert lowrance TO Bird... theres a couple ways- but you will have to use 3rd party software. either with the babel link, or thru a Navionics NavPlanner. those are the two quickest that I know of.

If I remember correctly, Humminbird defaults to a .gpx file extension. GPS Babel will convert the .gpx file to a .usr file that Lowrance will read. Takes merely seconds to do.

You might try exporting your waypoint list to a text file or comma separated variable (CSV) file. You should also be able to import a text file or CSV file. Both program should support an import/export capability and if they support a common basic format between them like txt or csv, you'd be in business.
