My My My - what an afternoon on LL. Got off early today & hit the lake by @ 3:30. I had planned on going up into the old lake and look for a new spot. A good fishing buddy had given me a tip concerning a certain place (not west of I-35). All I can say is it is East of I-35. (west of I-35 is getting a lot of traffic all of a sudden for some reason ). So - I followed his tip, planning to fish it for a while and then head for the old lake. I never made it to the old lake. I started catching them right off the bat in 10 - 13 feet. All fish caught @ 4-5 feet deep. I tried different depths and nothing doing ( this was part of the tip ) I kept 11 of the bigger ones - over 11 inches to 13+ inches. Lewisville has been outstanding lately and today was one of the better days. Almost everything was keeper size. Left them biting @ 7 P.M. Ended the day @ 3 hours of fishing, with 39 crappie and several trash fish - also lost several large crappie - broke my line while I was trying to land them (first time that's ever happened - probably need to change out my line) Sooo - the crappie are biting all over the lake - not just West of I-35. Lewisville - the "Rodney Dangerfield" of Texas lakes. My My MY

You are quickly becoming my hero, Robert. I can't wait till I get a trolling motor. I just can't fish like I should be able to without one. Nice catch. Was Tony with you? Who took the pix?

Tony didn't get to go today - he has homework every night. There was a fellow at the dock who took the pictures for me. Tony goes with me on weekends - he's becoming an excellent jig fisherman and I think he's coming down with the MCD at an early age Did you know that Southwest had re-built trolling motors for @ 1/2 the price of new ones ?

Yea, they have some good prices but I need a saltwater series with a longer shaft. What kind do you have on your boat?

I have a Motor-Guide 74 lb thrust. I got the longest shaft they offered - don't remember how long it was but it works fine for my boat.

Didn't mean to be so vague - East of I-35 and South of the old dam!!

Thought I would add this -
The fishing pattern was a bit different yesterday, not just the depth. I was bit almost always on the drop. At the last place I tried, I casted out across the tree patch and let the jig fall back towards me. If I didn't get bit right away as it drifted back towards me, I'd lift the jig when it got to what I thought was @ 5 or 6 feet and let it fall again. I did this repeatedly as I slowly retrieved the jig. They took it repeatedly on the drop. Then I tried straight vertical jigging, holding the jig @ 4 or 5 feet, very still, then dropping it @ 6 inches or even a foot and bam they'd take it on the drop.
It was very cool the way they'd take it on the drop. I think that's one of the neatest things about crappie fishing.
Wow - I may be taking this stuff a bit too seriously.
