All geared up... Fish light w/new battery... Black light/flour line... even lighted floats.. Tested the light out on Granger, it lit up about half of the water under the dock with the green light filter. Should be interesting to see how it works on a clear lake like Georgetown.... Can't wait...

How late is everyone planning to stay out? Just wondering, I'm all about staying out until we get into them. But I'll need a few hours of sleep as well. How late guys?

Depends on how cold it is and how the fishing is. And I normally don't give up too easy. I go fishing to catch fish. You might want to bring a sleeping bag with ya.

Anyone going out during the afternoon tomorrow before the gathering to scout? Let me know and I will be open to meeting you.
Weather looks great as of this post:
Dec 30, 2005 3pm: 71' Winds: NW10 6pm: 63' Winds: NW6 9pm: 56' Winds: NW3 12am 53' Winds: 0 3am: 47' Winds: N2
Question...
How much bait should we bring? I am assuming minnows... 1,2,3 doz per angler? How much per boat?

I would guess a minimum of three dozen per angler. Heck, I use two poles, and if the other two in my boat use two poles, then that's a half a dozen minnows every time we make a move and drop down. I plan on drowning a few of those small fishes my self.
I told sportsman I was picking up ten dozen on the way to the lake. There is nothing worse than running out of bait when the bite is on. But when that happens, thats when I pull out the good old cast net and get after it. There is always some bait on the lake to catch if it becomes necessary.

I think Zertis and his wife pick up ten dozen every time they go out there.
I would rather feed the fish what I have left over at the end of the fishing trip than to run out before I was through.

Where is a good place to get minnows around the lake? Or even in Round Rock, I don't use live bait.
Gus, is Cedar Breaks Ramp and dock usable? or should we meet at Jim Hogg to launch?

I am all for putting in at Jim Hogg for several reasons. Not as long of a walk up the ramp which is extremely steep at Cedar Breaks not to mention the light at the ramp does not shine down there because it is so low. You don't have to walk across 75 yards of loose rock in the dark to get to your boat from the dock. Also the way the parking lot is setup it is a little more trailer friendly in my opinion. Only 2 boats can get to the dock at Cedar Breaks at a time because of the water level, but it is still usable. The only draw back to Jim Hogg is the floating dock is no longer floating. but I still prefer it. Its not a problem for me to just ease up to the ramp and let my rig sit there while I back the trailer down.

Hey, I'd like to join if there is any seat open (and I have a fishing partner who is also intersted). But I have never done boat fishing before. However, I am a proficient bank angler and I know a lot about crappies. Not for LMB, though. As for bait, I can take at least 10 dozen minnows. I catch them. I can probably catch 20-30 dozens but just don't want to break my promise if I failed. The main purpose is that I want to go out and make friends. Zertis has contacted me before but we have not met yet. Also I will buy a boat very soon. That's an opportunity to learn from experts.

Gus, I guess I will use Cedar Breaks ramp, because of the dock. I do not have a keel guard on my boat, and don't want to scratch the bottom up. But, you are right about the rest of it. I just want to be able to use the dock.
Winterwang, Sabot is the boat assigner, I am sure he will be along soon to let you know where ya'll can set. Is it important that you and you're buddy are in the same boat?

My brother is coming up and we are going to give Decker a try today. I got blanked out yesterday, hope today is much better. Yesterday, I was looking for LMB. Will probably be doing the same today.

New guy here! I have been a lurker on this board for some time now. I fish out at Georgetown for crappie whenever I get a chance and have really just gotten back into fishing over the last 6 months or so, ever since I came a across a new Jon boat. How often do you guys get something like this trip together? I would like to go out one day, unfortunately I have plans for Friday night, but next time for sure.
