I have being using an early 2007 model and had a couple of problems with it.The first was the drag won't hold very well on the hookset. The second was one of the handle grips came off which I fixed myself. The drag issue I sent back to the factory and they fixed it with their new drag system.I'm still using it on every trip and it's still performing as new.
I now have 3 XS 1000s.Had to send one back for warranty repair (3 year warranty) due to a dumb move by one of my sons. They fixed it no questions asked.
The shape and appearance is so that they are easy to palm and comfortable to fish.
They are easy to clean and cast a country mile.
They might be ugly but they sure do perform.
Made right here in the USA.
I won't bash anyone's product until they have a chance to correct the problem.Ardent has done that for me.
Once my Shimanos wear out(if they ever do) I will be switching over to all Ardent reels.
By the way I'm not on their pro staff.Just like the product and the customer service.
