Boomhauer if you want to fish someday and don't feel like draggin your boat this way just let me know ahead of time and we can meet in Conroe and take my boat. I know it might be slummin in my boat compared to yours but my boat does know how to catch fish. LOL. Fish fear my boat!!!!!

Rattle traps and rooster tails should catch you some whites.

I am not to proud Matt. Before my new boat I had a 1975 Kingfisher. I would gladly step foot in that fish catching machine of yours any day of the week. I will look at sundays forcast and make a call Saturday evening.
The red head has already given me a To Do List!

Some days I don't get out there until 8 or 8:30 unless I am looking for stripers and then I will get there at daylight.

I have not fished Conroe lately. I usually start fishing it around october and november thru march. Some friends of mine are still catching crappie on jigs. I usually fish the north end when it starts to cool off for crappie and catfish and in january the whites are going crazy starting to spawn.

Speaking of Conroe and Livingston, I will give my short sad story: I have an 8 and 5 year old that like to fish, or should I say catch fish. Used to take them to Conroe when it had grass and we could catch all the sunfish in the world with bobber and worm or bitsy crankbait. Now with no grass, sunfish are deeper and harder for them to fish. I decided to try trolling Livingston for whites and stripers, the problem is I can't consistently deliver and the kids are getting bored with fishing. I need to be schooled. I am also trying to learn how to crappie fish in an attempt to put the kids on fish. We don't need keeper fish, just catcher fish as we haven't ventured in to cooking them yet. I am in a red and white ranger 210, so if you see me feel free to stop by and ring the school bell or send me a PM.

One more question on Livingston, I am currenly launching at the state park because I have a park pass, but the launches are not well suited to launching by oneself. How are the other marinas on the south end of the lake, i.e. coming from Coldspring?

Ok sixwarden9 you have said the magic words. I really enjoy taking the kids out to catch fish. I will not tell you all I know but I will see that the kids catch fish. The last 2 I took out with their dad a couple of weeks ago had sore arms the next day from catching fish. I don't know about the ramp at the state park but it looked good the other day I towed someone over there. I usually put in at Browders and when the weather is a little more stable I like to launch at Wolf Creek. Browders is closer in case the weather gets bad near the island but Wolf Creek has an AWSOME fish cleaning area. I know the state park is closer to the island than the others but I would have to drive farther to get there from Conroe. PM me and we can talk.
Matt

The ramps at the state park are good, but they lack good docks to tie my boat up to, most of them are to high right now and it puts my low boat under them. I guess stow-a-way and huntsville state parks courtesy docks have me spoiled. PM is on the way.

They have plenty of docks. Half the time I just tie the boat off in the launch lane (Nobody there of course) and park my truck. Plus they have a really good cleaning station right there at the marina. Are you launching at the ramp south of the marina? I know it is still in the state park.

Mattsfishin, I'm taking my grandkids to Livingston next week. I just want to see them catch some fish. I've got a place by the 190 bridge but haven't been up there for some time. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have not fished the lake lately but I heard they were catching whites near the old 190 roadbed but that was before all this water hit the lake a few days ago. You should be able to catch some blues with shad or cutbait. I have been fishing below the dam but I would not suggest taking kids down there with 12 gates open and you WILL NEED a heavy anchor.
Matt
