The problem - tilt/trim will go down but not up. It's a hydraulic issue as the motor will run in either direction when up/down switch is engaged.

There are no leaks and the reservoir is full. Evinrude T/T unit is stamped HYB-5001 with a date code of 9/84. Outboard is a 1984 50 hp.

1st question - What's the most likely cause of this problem? I'm thinking something in the pump valve body/gear cage assembly has failed. If so, that assembly doesn't seem to be available from any source.

2nd question - Assuming parts aren't available to repair this unit, what's my best options on replacing the motor/pump assembly?

go to classifieds and find j&b boats and see if he has one, if he does the price will be right!
