Okay, I was in Eastland today, so we stopped at Mary's on the way home. If that chicken fried steak is 'legendary', or 'the best in Texas' as I've been told/read so many times, I need to open a restaurant. That wasn't even in the top 10 of the best I've had in Texas. Loco Coyote blows it out of the water, as far as restaurants go. I won't be back. You sir are a food Nazi. Mary's is awesome! Though I will try out Loco Coyote.

I'm not a food Nazi. However, you don't get as fat as I was by not knowing what tastes good and what doesn't. Mary's wasn't bad, but it was just a standard chicken fried steak...definitely no where near the best.

The picture posted on here of the CFS at Mary's looks much more like what I would call a country fried steak, not the same as a Texas CFS. Maybe the pic was deceiving, but it did not look like the CFS I am used. I admit I have never been there, so JMO.

Instead of deep frying their CFS it is actually cooked on a griddle top with a little vegetable oil

Had the CFS at the Country Cafe in Joshua today. It was very good and one of the better I've had recently. It's across from the old Brookshire's grocery store.

Never had Mary's. will try it next time I go to DeLeon.

After seeing the numerous posts for Mary's in Strawn we were finally within 30 miles and went Saturday. All I can say is DELICIOUS GOODNESS! Cut with a fork, melts in your mouth.

I'm throwing in Weezy's in Blossom as worth a trip if you're in the Paris area - it's definitely worth the trip 10 miles east on 82. Reasonably priced, too - order the small for $5.95 unless you want to take some home.

Just about everyone is cutting the "cheaper steak" thinner now days Add the double dredge and its quantity over quality, even the worst of cooks can fair much better at home
