Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and respectfully mine is that the Chicken Fry at Love and War is not even close to as good as Mary's.
I have not eaten at Mary's in a few years, and I have talked to more than a couple of folks in the last year who say that Mary's has slipped a little bit. But even if that is true I cannot imagine that it was anywhere as mediocre as the Chicken Fry I got at Love & War Grapevine a couple of weeks ago. For one thing it would have BARELY made a decent sized steak sandwhich.
At least at Mary's you are gonna leave full.

Never eaten at Mary's, but have eaten at Love & War and the CFS wasn't very good. My favorites these days are Dot's over by Gulfgate and T-Bone Tom's in Kemah.

If Mary's is $35 for a medium CFS - forget it. Sounds like something has gone to Mary's head.

If Mary's is $35 for a medium CFS - forget it. Sounds like something has gone to Mary's head. Yep, It ran $35 bucks for my wife and I. (2 med CFS, 2 teas) And I definitely agree, Mary's is getting a little up there in price for an afternoon road trip lunch.

I've had the CFS at Mary's many times and have never had a bad one.
If you're around Ft. Worth try the CFS at Boo Ray's on Boat Club rd. Its really good.

ok... "Babes fried chicken" Had their chicken fried steak last week...very good..!best in area Garland I've had..!
I think all Babes food is good...have not had any thing bad yet..

Okay, I was in Eastland today, so we stopped at Mary's on the way home. If that chicken fried steak is 'legendary', or 'the best in Texas' as I've been told/read so many times, I need to open a restaurant. That wasn't even in the top 10 of the best I've had in Texas. Loco Coyote blows it out of the water, as far as restaurants go. I won't be back.
