Hi guys, I am very inexperienced fisher and I seem to have no luck. I have been fishing all the time and all I catch is these little tiny bluegills and I see people right across the pond catching some big (in my opinion) bass. They are always using lures and I always ask them what kind and its always different. I am trying to find a good lure to buy and I cant decide on any particular thing. Right now I am using bread, and some people say thats good but I cant catch anything!
There isnt a fishing shop near me so I need to buy online. Can you guys suggest any fast and good online sellers?
Also what in your opinion type of lure should I get?
Any other suggestions???
Thanks so much!

Forget the bread. well, the easiest lures to use (if you've never bass fished before) would probably be spinner baits and crankbaits (rattletraps, or ones with a lip). BUT I wouldn't necessarily recommend those to you as a lure to use from the bank. The spinner baits are possible (and effective) from the banks if you're not fishing around too much cover but the crankbaits will get hung up on anything and everything (because of treble hooks). So therefore I suggest you learn to fish soft plastic baits... in particular Senko type baits. They are very effective baits and easy to rig hookless (for beginners and experts). Fish it with a weight or without (I like with a weight for the extra casting distance). Learn the "Texas Rig" and Learn the palomar knot, they are easy to learn and all you'll need for a while. Buy wide gap or extra wide gap (EWG)offset worm hooks in a 3/0 size. Maybe get the Senkos with the paddle tails so you can swim it a little (because soft plastics takes patients). You'll usually feel a tap before a fish runs with the bait, set the hook hard. My six year old fishes these from the banks with success. Hope that helps.

Welcome to the forum. Alot of good info on here and some real smart people. I agree......Fishing from the bank use spinnerbaits and plastics. In ponds, I like white or shad colored spinnerbaits. As far as plastics, Senkos, Power worms, or my favorite baby brush hog, watermelon red, dipped in dip-n-glo, and texas rigged with a bullet weight. They'll hit it so hard, you'll think your hung up on something.
Men are like fish...If we'd learn to keep our mouth shut, we'd stay out of trouble.

Welcome to the Forum my friend!! These are all good suggestions. One I would add is to get some ballhead jigs in different weights and hook sizes. After you've done that get you some Yum Wooly Hawg Craws, Hawgtails, Curltails and Beavertails. These should cover almost every situation you come across. You can find these on lurenet.com . Get some Zoom trick and finesse worms for the rest. I swear by 3" to 5" Kalin Grubs!! If there are bass in the water, these lures will catch them!! Rig on anything from 1/16 oz. to 3/8 oz. jigheads. Regular hooks for 3"; oversized hooks for 4" and 5". They work!! You can find these at unclejosh.com . Hope this helps!!

Hook one of those tiny bluegills behind the dorsal fin and hang on.

Some of the best luck I have had in ponds are Bettle Spins, yellow and black color. I've also had good luck with Rooster Tails.

+2 on the Beetle spins. Don't forget about flukes, if the fish are there, they will ALWAYS hit a fluke.

+1 on the Crickhopper! They work great; usually just twitching the plug on top is gonna draw a strike. Just to remember to be patient and experiment. I love flukes but, in my experience, the more pressure the pond gets, the less effective it is. Thats my $.02!!

I pond fish at least 2 or 3 times a week. I think most of my fish come on 8"+ worms on a shaky head or finesse head. an equal amount come on rattle traps
