Well he went back to BAMC to rehab again and was doing pretty well until a tear opened again on his stump. It seems that in one spot his skin stuck to his bone and has no give so he tears it and now it looks like they will take the 3rd cut in a couple of months if it's not better. Really don't think there is a way for that to improve and they want to get back to better tissue. Part of the problem I think is his skin is so thin where he was burned.

Boy this one really bums me out because we were so close to getting passed this.

He has been working his tail off though as far as getting in shape. They take bike rides (kind you peddle with your arms) of like 55 miles and of course in San Antonio it has been a brutal summer with almost 60 days of 100 or higher temps(when I was there about a month or more back it had hit 53 days in a row).

Other than that things are good for him and family. Had my grandson for a couple weeks again this summer and we had a great time.

He is going to go to Colorado this month for an Elk hunt so things are still great the way people treat our wounded warriors is absolutely wonderful. Oh and he did get another promotion a while back to E7.

I was hoping the next update would be saying it's finally over and he is done with rehab and all, but not quite yet.

Anyway thanks all the support and prayers form TFF members,

Skip, you have raised one God fearing man and he will be ok here soon. I think the trip to Colorado will do wonders for him and his psyche and help him to think positive thoughts through his battle. This is a different kind of battle and with my little brother surviving cancer with the help of my dad you are the coach helping him get better like my dad did for my brother.

I have no doubt that your son will be through rehab here soon. After going through this the last couple years, he has fought long and will prevail the way it's meant to be. Stay strong for him, like you always have, and stay positive for him. He will make it through....

Prayers sent.

Thanks so much guys and gals I appreciate it as does he. He has got to do a lot of things because he is a wounded warrior and that has helped a lot, just like the Elk hunt will do.

we are so thankful he lived since the kind of IED that hit him usually cuts that guy in half, but for some reason this one didn't go off like it could have. There has been many things from this that has made a difference in all of us. I mean he was injured very badly, but it could have been his life.

My son and his wife have been working with the care coalition since he got to a point he could do things like that. They became mentors because the way they handled his injury and recovery.

I wish each of you could have seen what I saw in that hospital(BAMC) with all the other wounded soldiers and their families. It was really something to see and learn these things(there are lots of volunteers at BAMC and the Guest House across the street)even existed.

We are surly thankful and we appreciate all the support we have got here.

Thanks again,

Sorry to hear of your son's recent set back, but I'm hopeful that he'll get through this the way he has always persevered. Prayers sent for a quick recovery from this latest issue. Please keep us posted, and tell your son to take lots of hunting trip pics.

Best of luck to all.

Skip I am sorry to hear that your son has another challege to overcome. But it is because of young men and women like him that this country will always prevail. You tell him for us that we are proud of him and that we are praying for his speedy recovery. You also tell him that if he is ever in Dallas to go to Pete's Cafe on beltline near Marsh lane and he will see how people really feel about our service men and women. I have yet to see a service man or women pay for a meal. Not to mention all the thank yous that they get while trying to eat thier meal. They are treated like the heroes that they are. Thanks for keeping us in the loop, I can hardly wait for the day you tell us he is finally home and well.

Patrick

Congratulations on raising a strong NCO that leads by example. I personally spent 9 months at BAMC and he is in good hands.

If anyone would like to donate to an organization that really makes a difference in a wounded soldiers life please check out http://www.fisherhouse.org/aboutUs/aboutUs. They house injured soldier's families while visiting the treatment facility. They put up my dad for two weeks at BAMC and my aunt for two weeks at Walter Reed free of charge.
